Student Contracts

To support students in developing a sense of responsibility for their studies, their class, and ultimately themselves.

Students will create an agreement between themselves, their classmates, and the teacher that will serve as a way to establish and maintain a mindset of accountability for each other and themselves.

Students write and sign a pre-written contract for the course, including what they will do academically, how they will support their peers, and what they will do if they need support.

The class discusses what each person will need to do to be successful and what each person needs from their class community to be successful in realizing the contract.

• Contract Renewal Activity: After each Grading Period (Quarters, Trimesters, etc), have another class discussion reflecting on how the contract commitments are going. Make new commitments to recommit to the class.
