Student Group Noticing Routine

Purpose

To build in the routine of students holding one another accountable for learning and presence in class.

Outcome

Students form small groups to support one another throughout AP coursework, including exam preparation, challenging assignments and absences; the formation of groups helps mitigate a lack of bonding amongst students in a class.

Action Steps

Students engage in an ice-breaker activity designed to introduce them to their group members.

Students are then are asked to exchange contact information within the group.

Students work together to create a name for their group.

The instructor takes attendance using the names of the groups, and group members become responsible for reporting any absent teammates.
