Group Roles and Responsibilities

Purpose

To provide students with a sense of purpose and direction as they work together to complete learning objectives.

Outcome

Students are assigned group roles and responsibilities to ensure equitable participation and create a sense of community within the group.

Action Steps

Follow the detailed instructions on the linked protocol below: Print out group role cards to distribute to students.

Each day, randomly assign roles to students within their groups.

The student acting as the Facilitator will be asked to evaluate their group members using the Role Scoring Sheet. This sheet allows the Facilitator to score their group members (and themself) based on the specific responsibilities associated with each student’s role and general participation.

Use the Daily Participation Evaluation to aggregate the student rankings across the groups.
