Absent Student Email Routine


To gradually release responsibility of making up missed work from the teacher to the student.


Students will develop self-management and self-discipline skills to ensure they can catch up on work when they are absent.

Action Steps

  • The teacher routinely communicates with the student on the day a student is absent from class to emphasize belonging and share critical materials following absence.
  • Over time, responsibility for email shifts to the student.
