Feedback, Growth Mindset

To routinely use framing comments to help students receive critical feedback and increase understanding and success.

By providing well-framed feedback, students will be better positioned to receive feedback that supports them in gaining the skills and content knowledge needed to perform their best.

Action Steps

Use framing comments that:

  • Describe the purpose of critical feedback;
  • Reinforce the teacher’s belief in students’ ability to learn and to achieve the class standards.
  • Reaffirm that the class is meant to be challenging but students can succeed.
  • Confirm that the teacher believes the students are capable of meeting this high standard.
