Diagnostic Feedback

Purpose

To give students feedback that they are more likely to accept and utilize for improvement.

Outcome

Students will develop the mindset necessary to focus on the content of the teacher’s feedback rather than their grade.

Action Steps

  • Communicate in writing where students are, where they need to be, and how to close the gap.
  • Do not give a grade.
  • Students improve their work based on teacher’s comments rather than focusing on a grade.
