AP Enrollment Conversation Sessions

To create a welcoming and conversational information session for parents of potential students.

Trust will be built by creating a welcoming and positive experience for families that includes an open and casual dialogue between facilitators and families.

Provide food and snacks to create a welcoming, casual, and friendly atmosphere.

Use conversation starters suggested by the College Board, that include questions to students, such as:

• What are you most passionate about?
• Have you ever thought about taking an advanced class?
• Which careers excite you?
• Do you have any concerns or fears about taking an AP class?
• What are some preconceptions that you have about students who take AP classes?

Use conversation starters with parents, such as:

• How is the AP different from other honors classes?
• How are AP classes weighted?
• What AP classes are offered?
• What financial support, such as test fee waivers or reductions are available to families?
• What academic support is available to students who enroll?
