Data Collection and Analysis and Real-Time Assessment

Purpose

To assess students’ learning progress in real time through surveys, pre-assessments and check-ins to differentiate learning and adjust instruction.

Outcome

Students receive real-time feedback on their learning so they can adjust their responses immediately and focus on concepts that need additional reinforcement.

Action Steps

  • Utilize Personalized Learning Platforms (online assessment and curriculum management tool).
  • Complete “temperature checks” with students (thumbs up or down) on understanding of content.
  • Assign quick assessments (ten-minute quizzes).
  • Clarify your own goals before using a survey about what precisely you want to learn and how you will use the survey results.
  • Offer opt-in workshops: students can choose to attend a particular workshop on a topic they’re struggling with, or to work independently on something else.
