Connect students with AP Alumni Mentors

Purpose

To connect students with mentors for support and modeling of college-level performance expectations for the second half of the school year.

Outcome

Students connected with college student-mentors will benefit from a peer relationship built on the shared experiences of AP classes and college preparation.

Action Steps

  • Connect with school-based resources to find college student mentors (guidance counselors or current networks of college volunteers who return to the school during breaks).
  • Gather information on what each set of students should expect from one another, any information that may help make a match (e.g., shared studies, backgrounds, shared AP classes taken), and any incentives that can be gathered for the college student volunteers.
  • Connect college students with current AP students, prioritizing matches that include the most common experiences and backgrounds.
