To encourage collaboration, mutual support, and accountability by creating small student working groups.


Students develop the self-management, self-discipline and emotional regulation skills to succeed in AP coursework and on the AP exam.

Action Steps

  • Establish cohorts at the beginning of the school year or semester.
  • Be intentional about groupings – these can be based on student interests, strengths, skill sets or areas of growth.
  • Allow students time to get to know each other, build relationships and develop trust within their groups.
  • Help students establish group norms.
