Partner Profile: Haverhill High School
MIE is proud to have Haverhill High School as a partner in our Advanced Placement Success Program! Here are some facts about HHS:
• Principal: Beth Kitsos
• District Superintendent: James Scully
• Haverhill High School is MIE’s first partner school in Haverhill, MA
• The mascot of the Haverhill Hillies is Michelangelo’s, “The Thinker.” HHS has a replica of the famous statue at the school’s entrance!
• UMass Lowell just this semester opened a satellite campus right in the heart of downtown Haverhill, meaning students from Haverhill High have the opportunity to attend a nationally ranked university in their own hometown. Haverhill is also home to Northern Essex Community College.
• Notable Alumni: Bob Montana, the creator of Archie Comics, who based Riverdale High School and his characters from Archie on Haverhill High School and its students and teachers. The CW’s “Riverdale” is also loosely based on Archie Comics.
