MIE Statement: Appointment of Michael Contompasis as Interim Headmaster of Boston Latin School

Mike Contompasis has been a tremendous asset to Mass Insight Education and our partners for nearly 10 years. He played a critical role in helping us secure a $13 million federal grant in 2007 to launch our Advanced Placement STEM and English work in Massachusetts. Under his leadership, the program grew from serving nine schools in its first year to more than 75 today. He also served as senior field consultant for our school turnaround work, drawing on his deep experience to help transform districts across the country to drive gains in student achievement.

“Mike is a true leader whose dedication to Boston Public Schools is unparalleled, and they are lucky to have him back,” said Sue Lusi, president & CEO, who first worked with Contompasis when she engaged MIE as superintendent of Providence Public Schools. “On behalf of our staff and board, we wish him all the best as he takes on this very important role.”

According to Bill Guenther, senior strategy consultant and founder, “The credibility that Mike brought to both our AP work and school turnaround work has been instrumental to our success. Working with him has been one of the most gratifying aspects of the last 25 years of my career.”
