Mass Insight Education to host policy discussion on school autonomy Dec. 6
Nov. 29 — Boston — Mass Insight Education (MIE), a Boston-based nonprofit dedicated to improving student achievement and college success, will host a policy breakfast discussion Dec. 6 on the issue of providing public schools more autonomy to drive educational improvement.
MIE’s panel, “School Autonomy — To What End?” will feature a group of education experts discussing the challenges with creating the right conditions for school-level control over people, time, money, and program that lead to improved student performance and greater collective responsibility for student success.
Nov. 29 — Boston — Mass Insight Education (MIE), a Boston‐based nonprofit
dedicated to improving student achievement and college success, will host a policy
breakfast discussion Dec. 6 on the issue of providing public schools more autonomy
to drive educational improvement.
MIE’s panel, “School Autonomy — To What End?” will feature a group of education
experts discussing the challenges with creating the right conditions for school‐level
control over people, time, money, and program that lead to improved student
performance and greater collective responsibility for student success.
“While increasing school autonomy is an important element of education reform,
one size does not fit all,” MIE CEO Susan F. Lusi said. “When and why it works is a
critical area to explore, and we’re excited to have such a distinguished and dynamic
group of panelists to weigh in on the issue.”
Joining Lusi, who will moderate the discussion, will be:
• Representative Alice Peisch, Co‐chair, Joint Committee on Education
• Dr. Pia Durkin, Superintendent, New Bedford Public Schools
• Paul Reville, Francis Keppel Professor of Practice of Educational Policy and
Administration, Harvard University Graduate School of Education
• Jessica Tang, President, Boston Teachers Union
The event will be held Wednesday, December 6th, 7:45 am to 9:30 am at State Street
Financial Center, 1 Lincoln St., 36th Floor, Boston. It will also be live streamed to
