2019 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year joins Mass Insight to provide AP Calculus support
BOSTON – September 12, 2019 – Jamil Siddiqui, 2019 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year, has accepted a part-time position at Mass Insight (Mi), providing coaching and support to AP Calculus teachers participating in Mi’s Advanced Placement (AP) STEM & English program, Mass Insight announced today.
Siddiqui’s first experience with Mi was in 2012, when East Bridgewater Jr/Sr High School became a partner in Mi’s AP STEM & English program and Siddiqui was sent to his first Mi Advanced Placement Summer Institute (APSI), where he says he was “reborn as a teacher.” Siddiqui went on to become a lead teacher in the Mi AP program and served as a frequent presenter at Mi’s Saturday Study Sessions, which give students additional learning time in each of their AP subjects.
In 2014, Jamil became a certified College Board consultant and started serving as an instructor in Mi’s signature professional development programs, APSI and October Two-Day Content Workshop.
In 2018, it was announced that he would become the 2019 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year, a result of his evident passion and skill for teaching and learning.
“I am very excited to be taking on this new responsibility with Mass Insight,” Siddiqui said. “Mass Insight provided me with the best and only subject specific professional development that I had encountered in my first 16 years of being an educator. Mass Insight connected to me to so many great teachers and has allowed me to build a great professional community of colleagues. I am thrilled that I can now share that with other Calculus teachers across the Commonwealth.”
Sally Guadagno, Managing Director of the AP STEM & English program, added, “We are very excited to have Jamil Siddiqui officially joining our Mass insight team as an AP Calculus Content Specialist. Jamil has been an integral part of our program for years and will bring his passion for teaching calculus to all of our partner schools.”
