Provide opportunities to check for understanding, reinforcing that the main goal of the class is learning
Allow students to ease into the content in order to build confidence
Provide ways for students to get to know the teacher and feel comfortable asking for help or approaching
Ease student anxiety about the difficulty of an AP course
Build in group discussions and informal conversations for students to hear differing views and get comfortable with each other, including working in varied groups of peers
Build confidence before providing increasingly in-depth feedback
Explain to students how assignments during this time period differ from similar assignments earlier on (making progression visible)
Continue encouraging mindset of learning and growth, ensuring focus is not exclusively on the exam
During “drop/add” timeline, provide students with extra motivation to stay enrolled
