Middle School Readiness
The Path to Success Through 8th Grade Algebra
Algebra is the single highest predictor of a student’s future success — the gateway to advanced learning, college and career readiness, and economic mobility. Yet only 30% of 8th graders are proficient in math. The math crisis is a solvable problem. We can act early and together. Join us in strengthening middle school readiness so every student can access Algebra I by 8th grade and stay on a path to opportunity.
3 Success Drivers. 1 Big Goal.
Our model is designed to influence student preparation, access, and success in 8th grade Algebra within one year, through a focus on three drivers of success:
Comprehensive Support:
- Teacher professional learning experiences through workshops and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs);
- Extended learning opportunities for students facilitated by experts in support of mastery and academic acceleration;
- School and system leadership coaching and support sessions to build capacity for continued success.
Partner schools will gain:
- Exclusive comprehensive support to improve student preparation, access, and success in 8th grade Algebra within one year;
- A growing network of peers tackling this important charge;
- Reduced costs for multiple schools in the same district.
We are looking for partners:
- From across the country in rural or urban, and charter or traditional contexts;
- Who already offer or plan to offer at least one section of 8th grade Algebra I (or accelerated math equivalent);
- Where district leaders, including Superintendent and instructional leaders, support and align with Algebra I as a priority.
